ENGINEERED FLEX COREâ„¢ (EFCâ„¢)

The first core specifically developed and constructed for bodyboards, EFCâ„¢ is a superior core technology that allows us to engineer the flex of your board to meet specific water conditions. The result is a durable, lightweight one piece core with superior memory, flex, recoil and projection properties.

NOMAD: ENGINEERING YOUR FLEX.

The development project for EFC set out with one specific goal:to produce a one piece core that has the flex capabilities of a high grade PE core, and fuse it with the durability and weight of a PP core.

In the past Bodyboard manufacturers have been forced to source existing materials manufactured by other industry’s for purposes other than bodyboard cores. This has forced the industry to be a slave to material manufacturers making materials of varying quality not purposely made for the quality of product they want produce. This is about to change.

Nomad leads the way in new core composition technology that will open the door to the new world of ‘ENGINEERED FLEX’.

An advancement and manipulation of the chemical compound and cell structure of beaded waterproof foam, combined with a new manufacturing technique gives us the capability to engineer or finely tune a core precisely to the flexibility we want it to have. Each board’s core is individually manufactured inside a specially designed injection mould. This process allows us to introduce unique and varied stringer systems during the actual manufacturing process of the core, and assists us to effectively engineer the flex of the core to our own specific requirements.

This differs from traditional Polypro and PE cores that are manufactured in long sheets that must be then be cut to size. This process limits the manipulation of the cores flex properties to stringers that can be introduced after the manufacturing process by drilling holes into the core.

The EFC has allowed us to develop unique variable flex stringers that, if not for this breakthrough in manufacturing technology, could not be manufactured into the board in any other way. Instead, the EFC allows tabular stringers to be encased inside the core during its manufacture.

Our variable flex stringer system that consists of a Centrifuge stringer that is a tabular [flat] fiberglass compound and nearly impossible to snap. Extra stiffness is added by adding a pair of semi-rigid tabular stabilizing stringers. This is the ultimate set-up for advanced bodyboarding conditions that require superior flex.

The EFC is the first core material specifically developed and constructed as a core for bodyboards. The result is a durable, lightweight, one-piece core with superior memory, flex, recoil and projection properties.

EFC’s unique qualities combined with the Nomad FSD’s advanced high performance templates make the new range of Nomad Bodyboards the most advanced in the market today.
